Other initiatives
COPPeR is up to something cool every day. Here are some of our other programs.
Art In Storefronts
Art in Storefronts is an urban revitalization project designed to reactivate vacant store windows by filling them with non-commercial art installations, creative businesses or pop-up shops in order to brighten the downtown area, increase foot traffic, and showcase local artists. COPPeR seeks artists to develop installations for vacant storefronts in various neighborhoods in the Pikes Peak Region. The installation projects will be programmed in available spaces throughout 2012 and into 2013. These installations are temporary, and all properties are still for lease.
Arts Walk with the Mayor
Presented by the City Of Colorado Springs, COPPeR and Pikes Peak Arts Council. “A vibrant arts and cultural city will drive Colorado Springs to be a successful city where people love to live, work and vacation,” said Mayor Bach. During walks, attendees see Public Art projects and learn how they have had a positive impact on our downtown.
Broad-Based Arts advocacy and education
COPPeR staff facilitate Arts Day for Leadership Pikes Peak programs, to include the Signature Program, the Women’s Community Leadership Initiative, Experience the Springs, and Leadership Now! (a young professionals leadership program). We also are available to speak to business and community groups to communicate the value of arts and creativity as essential to all community development.
